Harry Kane walks into the Metropolitano tonight with a goal in each of his last ten Champions League games. Cristiano Ronaldo's record, set with Real Madrid across 2017 and 2018, is eleven. UEFA's own table has Kane alone in second on ten after his Matchday 3 goal against Arsenal, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robert Lewandowski on nine, UEFA notes. Atlético Madrid, 16th in the league phase on four points, are the team standing between him and a share of it; Bayern sit 14th on five and arrive with what Sports Mole calls an injury crisis in attack.

It is one of nine Matchday 4 games on Tuesday, two at 17:45 UK time and seven at 20:00, and the night's other storyline is a manager rather than a striker.

Will Michael Carrick survive Manchester United vs Roma?

United are 21st in the 36-team table and winless in nine matches in all competitions after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Chelsea; their last victory came against Sabah almost two months ago, and Sports Mole reports that Carrick could be out if they lose to Roma at Old Trafford. The visitors are 15th in Europe after a draw with Fenerbahçe, a loss at Real Madrid and a 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava, and are unbeaten in 17 Serie A matches, RotoWire notes. United's first half at Stamford Bridge was the one encouraging thing about the weekend; they will need 90 minutes of it.

Can Villarreal stop PSG, and can Barcelona stop Villa?

Paris Saint-Germain lead the league phase with a perfect record and the competition's highest tally, 14 goals in three games, including a 6-1 over Slovan Bratislava and the 4-2 that ended Barcelona's unbeaten start. They are on a nine-game winning run in all competitions but have kept only two clean sheets in it. Villarreal are 19th on three points after a 4-3 loss at Liverpool. Aston Villa have won all three of their European games and two of them produced five goals or more; Barcelona, whose only defeats this season are to PSG and Real Madrid, beat Alavés 6-1 on Saturday and have averaged four goals a game over their last ten while keeping one clean sheet. Expect goals at both ends in Catalonia.

What else is on tonight?

The early games: Shakhtar Donetsk host Sporting at Stamford Bridge, their temporary home, with Sporting 12th on six points and Shakhtar five places lower, and Galatasaray meet an unbeaten Stuttgart side that has conceded twice in three games. At 20:00, Feyenoord and Inter meet on three points each, Bodø/Glimt host Lille, who are still looking for their first point, and LASK, holding the final qualifying slot after their first-ever Champions League win, face a pointless Slovan Bratislava. Kick-off times above are from CBS Sports' schedule; check local listings for your time zone.

If Kane scores in Madrid, his next chance to stand alone is Lille on 25 November. If United lose in Manchester, Wednesday's news will be about a vacancy, not a table.
