Tyler Huntley was supposed to be the stopgap. By the time Sunday night in Atlanta ended, he had carried the Baltimore Ravens to a 30-23 overtime win over the Falcons, scoring the winning touchdown himself on a one-yard sneak. Lamar Jackson sat out with an ankle injury, and the Ravens trailed 23-15 with 2:25 left in regulation before the comeback began, according to NBC Sports.

The win lifts Baltimore to 4-1 and sole possession of first place in the AFC North. Atlanta falls to 2-3, six days after it ran past New Orleans in a 45-24 Monday night win.

How did the Ravens come back from eight down?

The Falcons led 14-9 at halftime and stretched it to 23-15 in the fourth quarter. Baltimore then drove for a seven-yard Huntley touchdown pass to Devontez Walker with about 40 seconds left, and Derrick Henry ran in the two-point conversion to tie it, per ESPN's recap. NBC Sports noted the whole drive took 1 minute 51 seconds.

Atlanta had a chance to win in regulation, with 40 seconds and two timeouts, but Michael Penix Jr. was sacked with 27 seconds left and hurt his ribs. Tua Tagovailoa came in for the extra period. The Ravens took the ball first and Huntley punched in from the one. On Atlanta's next possession, Kyle Hamilton intercepted Tagovailoa's pass intended for Drake London, and the game was over.

What did the numbers say?

Huntley finished 24 of 32 for 201 yards and two touchdowns, adding six carries for 20 yards. Henry ran for 102 yards and caught an 18-yard touchdown, while Justice Hill added 73 rushing yards, including a 47-yard run that set up a score, NBC Sports reported. Tyler Loop kicked field goals of 21, 51 and 51 yards.

For Atlanta, Penix completed 19 of 32 for 240 yards and a touchdown, a five-yarder to Kyle Pitts. London caught seven passes for 118 yards and Bijan Robinson ran for 86. The game's other Atlanta touchdown was Bates's, per ESPN: safety Jessie Bates III returned a recovered fumble 36 yards in the first quarter, which helped the Falcons into a 14-9 halftime lead.

Why does this result matter for the AFC North and the NFC South?

Baltimore had been without its starting quarterback and still left Atlanta with the division lead, a result that says plenty about the depth of a roster built around Henry and a defence that produced the decisive interception. For the Falcons, the loss stings because they had the game in hand: an eight-point lead inside the last three minutes, and the chance to win it in regulation with two timeouts in hand. A sack changed all of it, and the visitors took the ball first in the extra period.

What comes next for both teams?

The Ravens visit division rival Cleveland in Week 6 and will want to know how long Jackson's ankle keeps him out. The Falcons host Chicago, and NBC Sports says they may have to start a backup quarterback if Penix cannot go. The sources I read give no update on either player's availability.
