PSG Hit Six at Villarreal, Cunha Rescues Manchester United Against Roma and Kane's Streak Ends in Madrid

Tuesday's nine Champions League games produced a 6-0 away win for the holders, a comeback from two down at Old Trafford that ended a ten-match winless run, and a Bayern win without a Harry Kane goal.

Paris Saint-Germain were four goals up at Villarreal after 17 minutes. Manchester United were two goals down to Roma after 17 minutes. By the end of Tuesday night both had won, and the Matchday 4 table had a clear leader and a long list of teams with problems. UEFA's official list of league phase results records Villarreal 0-6 PSG, Manchester United 3-2 Roma, Atlético Madrid 0-2 Bayern, Barcelona 3-0 Aston Villa, Feyenoord 0-3 Inter, Galatasaray 2-0 Stuttgart, Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 Sporting, LASK 4-0 Slovan Bratislava and a goalless draw between Bodø/Glimt and Lille.

Our preview on Tuesday morning framed the night around two questions, Harry Kane's scoring record and Michael Carrick's job. Only one of them got the answer the crowd wanted.

How did Manchester United come back against Roma?

Matías Soulé put Roma ahead and Donyell Malen doubled the lead from the penalty spot inside the first 17 minutes at Old Trafford, and a tenth match without a win looked likely. Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from a retaken penalty just before the hour after Matheus Cunha was fouled, and Cunha then scored twice, in the 83rd and 86th minutes, the winner a near-post finish from Shea Lacey's pass, according to Sky Sports. Cunha was then sent off for a careless foul in the closing minutes, which will cost United their match-winner for the next European game. Carrick was careful afterwards: he said he was not getting carried away, but that it was an important night.

What happened to Harry Kane's run?

Kane went to the Metropolitano with goals in ten straight Champions League games and the chance to equal Cristiano Ronaldo's record of eleven. He did not score. Instead the teenager Lennart Karl put Bayern ahead in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer finished a Kane pass from the right of the box in the 74th, beIN Sports reported. Kane had an early chance that he blasted wide on the turn, so the assist was his consolation. The win lifted Bayern into the top eight; Atlético sit 21st.

How good were PSG at Villarreal?

João Neves scored in the ninth minute, Désiré Doué in the 12th, Senny Mayulu in the 13th and Fabián Ruiz in the 17th, then Ruiz again five minutes after the restart before the substitute David Boly added the sixth in the 78th, per ESPN's match report. The holders now have four wins from four, 12 points and a goal difference of plus 15, the best in the competition. Villarreal, with three points from four games, are 28th of 36.

Barcelona ended Aston Villa's perfect start with a 3-0 win at the Camp Nou, Inter won 3-0 at Feyenoord and LASK, the Austrian debutants, beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0. The second half of the matchday is on Wednesday night, when Liverpool go to Fenerbahçe, Real Madrid play AEK Athens and Arsenal visit Slavia Prague, and Kane's next chance to restart a streak is Lille on 25 November.
